A Speed Reading App That Earns Its Place on iPad

The iPad occupies a strange middle ground for reading. It has the screen for real typography and full-page PDFs, but it also carries every distraction your phone does. A reading app that earns its place on the iPad has to do two things at once: use the canvas properly, and hold your attention on the text.

Where the iPad specifically shines

Academic and technical PDFs. This is the iPad's strongest reading case and most apps squander it. Velo's on-device import pipeline detects chapters, resequences two-column layouts, links footnotes to their references, and strips running headers and page numbers. Split-screen research. Because Reader mode is a real typeset view rather than a stripped text dump, the iPad's multitasking works the way you'd hope: paper on one side, notes on the other.

One honest note about the phrase "speed reading": the research doesn't support reading dramatically faster with full comprehension, and Velo doesn't claim it.
